Seymour Christian Church Member Passes
Helen Marchetta Cummings, 84, Seymour, passed away at 9:10 a.m. Sunday, July 11, 2010, at Schneck Medical Center, Seymour.
Marchetta was born Feb. 12, 1926, in Franklin, the second child of Horace and Maude Callahan Fish.
She was a graduate of Clearspring High School and Huffer Beauty College in Columbus.
She married Norval V. Cummings on May 11, 1946, in Kurtz.
Marchetta owned and operated a hair salon in Freetown and Brownstown for several years before moving from the area. Returning to live in Seymour, she chose to spend her time attending to family and her church, volunteering as needed. She was a member of Seymour Christian Church.
Survivors include her husband of 64 years; children, Elaine (James E. Bullard) Cummings-Bullard, Duane (Marsha Hollin) Cummings and Terry (Melba Kamman) Cummings; five grandsons, John (Elizabeth Hawn) Bullard, Baron (Rachel Baker) Bullard, Jason (Dana Thomas) Cummings, Jacob Cummings and Josh Cummings; one granddaughter, DeAnna Cummings; and five great-grandchildren complete the family circle, Noah Bullard, Anna Bullard, Ella Bullard, Lily Bullard and Nolan Cummings; one sister, Dorene B. (Harold Gene) Fleetwood; one brother, Jerry (Donna Toppe) Fish; and several nieces and nephews, her extended family, friends and members of her church.
Her parents and three siblings, Laverne Ballard, Normalee Engleking and Keith Fish, preceded her in death.
Funeral Information
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Seymour Christian Church with the Rev. Bill Weaver officiating. Entombment will take place at Riverview Cemetery in Seymour after the service.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Burkholder Funeral Chapel, Seymour, and from 10 a.m. until time of service Wednesday at the church.
Donations Information
The family requests that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be made to the Path to a Cure Campaign, Juvenile Diabetes Research Program at Riley Hospital for Children, through the Indiana District of Kiwanis Foundation.
