Mr. Gary L. Christopher

Long time Duck's Unlimited supporter passes

Gary L. Christopher, 62, of Seymour, Indiana, passed away at his home on July 8, 2010 at 12:20 p.m. Mr. Christopher was born on January 30, 1948, in Seymour, the son of Leslie L. and Norma L. Thomas Christopher. Gary was married to Dorothy L. Johnson on August 31, 1968, at Reddington Christian Church in Reddington.
He was a graduate of Seymour High School and a veteran, having served in the U. S. Army Reserve, from 1970 until 1976. Mr. Christopher received his Bachelor degree from Indiana State University and a Master’s degree from Ball State University. He was a teacher for 33 years, and taught at Seymour High School for 23 years, retiring in 2004.
Mr. Christopher was a member of First Lutheran Church, Columbus; Seymour Elks Club, V.F.W., American Legion, Life Member of NRA, and Amateur Trapshooting Association. He was a past member of Seymour Education Association, National Education Association and Epsilon Pi Tau Honorary Education Association. Gary was also a Ducks Unlimited supporter and avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Dottie Christopher of Seymour IN, two daughters; Kimberly (Brian) Jones of Columbus, IN, Julie (Michael) Christopher-Daher, of Rancho Santa Margarita, California, four grandchildren; Chase Jones, Abigail Jones, Jessica Daher, Christopher Daher, His mother, Norma (Bob) Thomas of Seymour, IN, a sister, Diane (Tony) Brunovsky of Newton, NJ, and a brother Joe Christopher, of Seymour, IN.
His father Leslie L. Christopher preceded him in death, in 2000.
Funeral Information
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Monday, July 12, 2010, at Burkholder Funeral Chapel, with Rev. Larry Isbell, officiating. Visitation will be Sunday, July 11, 2010 from 1:00 p.m. until 5 p.m. and 10 a.m. until time of service on Monday, at Burkholder Funeral Chapel. Burial will take place at Riverview Cemetery following service with military graveside rites conducted by American Legion #89, V.F.W. #1925, D.A.V. #47 and Viet Nam #7 all of Seymour.
