Cheryl J. Heckman, 65, of Seymour, Indiana, passed away at Hospice of South Central Indiana in Columbus on January 16, 2012 at 8:16 p.m. Cheryl was born on August 26, 1946, in Seymour, the daughter of Glenn and Faye (Hatton) Gorbett. She graduated from Cortland High School in 1964. Cheryl married Michael Joseph Heckman on November 6, 1966 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, White Creek and celebrated 45 years of marriage last November. She worked outside the home for Marion Kay Spices for 1 year and Cummins Engine Company for 5 ½ years.
Mrs. Heckman was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, White Creek and St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Jonesville. She enjoyed traveling, boating, reading and spending time with her family especially her grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband, Michael, Seymour; a daughter, Stacey (David) Waskom, Seymour; a son, Todd (Jessica) Heckman, Seymour; 4 grandchildren, Laken & Kaylee Waskom, Hunter & Haley Heckman; a sister, Anita (Butch) Banister, Seymour; a brother, William Douglas Gorbett, Seymour, and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents and a granddaughter, Adria Ann Waskom.

Funeral Information

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 21, 2012, at Burkholder Funeral Chapel, with Rev. Edgar Keinath officiating. Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Friday, January 20, at Burkholder Funeral Chapel and on Saturday, from 10 a.m. until time of service. Burial will take place at Riverview Cemetery after the service.
