Former Owner of Bob's Model Machine Shop Passes
Robert Louis Fye, 85, of Seymour, Indiana, passed away at Methodist Hospital, Indianapolis, on August 23, 2010 at 07:25 A.M. Mr. Fye was born on April 1, 1925, in Indianapolis, the son of Herbert Louis and Norma Rieman Fye. He was a 1943 graduate of Shields High School. Robert was married to Ruth Montgomery, on September 30, 1945, in Seymour. He was employed as a Tool Engineer at General Motors, in Bedford, retiring in 1980.
Mr. Fye was a member of First Baptist Church, of Seymour and a past member of the A. C. Gilbert Erector Set Society. Robert had 60 years experience as a model tool and die maker/ tool and machine designer. He owned and operated Bob’s Model Machine Shop, for many years, in Seymour.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth, of Columbus, 3 children; Jon (Brenda) Fye, of Clarksville, TN, Don (Susan) Fye, of Columbus, and Bonnie Fye, of Bedford, 6 grandchildren; Shawn (Michelle) Fye, of Memphis, TN, Stacy Fye, of Hernando, MS, Edward Fye, of Columbus, Tony Fye, of Columbus, James Fye, of Abilene, TX, and Rick Fye, of Columbus, 2 Great-grandchildren; Emma and Ella Fye, both of Memphis.
His parents, a granddaughter, Karen Fye and a sister, Carolyn Ray preceded him in death.
Funeral Information
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., on Thursday, August 26, 2010, at Burkholder Funeral Chapel, in Seymour, with Rev. Bruce Cochran and Rev. Larry Tingle officiating. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 25, from 4 P.M. until 8 P.M., and on Thursday from 9 A.M. until time of service, at Burkholder Funeral Chapel. Burial will take place at Riverview Cemetery following the service.
