Mrs. Julia R. Thompson

February 17, 1938 - February 14, 2010

Retired Registered Nurse Passes

Julia R. Thompson, 71, of Seymour, Indiana, passed away at her home on February 14, 2010 at 12:08 p.m. Mrs. Thompson was born on February 17, 1938, in Freedom Indiana, the daughter of Robert G. and Hilda Johnson Livingston. She was a Registered Nurse, having graduated in 1956 from Spencer High School and Methodist Hospital School of Nursing, in 1959. She married Neil E. Thompson on September 6, 1959 in Owen County, IN, and they moved to Seymour in 1967. He preceded her in death in November 2009. Julia worked as a RN at
Schneck Medical Center, retiring in 1998 after 32 years of service. She was a member of Central Christian Church. She was a former member of Eastern Star. Julia spent several years taking loving care of her husband prior to his death and she loved to read.

Mrs. Thompson is survived by a son, Thomas G. (Charlene) Thompson, of Charleston, SC; a daughter, Kristen R. (Joseph) Jette, of Columbus; 5 grandchildren, Hailey K. and Donovan N. Thompson, Emma, David (Meghan) and Bradley (Shannon) Jette, a Great Grandchild; Jack Dylan Jette, a Sister; Leanna Blann, of Bowling Green, KY, a brother, Robert (Patricia) Livingston, of Bloomington, IN.
Her parents, husband and a sister, Peggy J. Dillon, preceded her in death.

Funeral Information

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., on Friday, February 19, 2010, at Burkholder Funeral Chapel, with Rev. Marsha Rodenberger, officiating. Visitation will be held on Friday from 11:00 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home.
Upon Julia’s request, cremation rites will be accorded after the services.

Donations Information

The family requests in lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Jackson County Society for the Handicapped, Central Christian Church, Schneck Medical Center Foundation, Jackson County Humane Society or to the donor’s choice.
