Esther Ruth Katherine Sundell

November 25, 1935 - January 14, 2022

Esther Ruth Katherine (Geisel) Sundell, 86 of Seymour, formerly of Mooresville, IN passed away on Friday, January 14, 2022 at The Lutheran Community Home. She was born November 25, 1935 in Regina Saskatchewan Canada to the late Edgar Harry and Alvina (Orb) Geisel. Esther was married to Charles (Chuck) Walter Sundell on May 11, 1957 at First Lutheran Church, Windsor, Ontario, Canada and celebrated 61 years of marriage before Chuck’s passing in 2018. Esther received her education in Windsor, Canada, finishing at JL Foster Secondary and then completed a yearlong secretarial course. She worked in Minnesota as a buyer at the former Dicomed and retired as church secretary at Good Shepherd Lutheran. They spent most of their married life in Minnesota and retired to Indiana. Esther is preceded in death by her parents, and step sister Judy Geisel. Surviving to cherish her memory are son, Scott (Karen) Sundell of Indiana, daughters, Susan (Jim) Schurman and Stacy (Mike) Winter of Minnesota, grandchildren, Amy Sundell, Michael Sundell, Jake Schurman and Grace Winter. Esther’s brother Ralph Geisel, Sister Betty Fenzl and best friend Faylyn Maninna of Canada, and other family members. They dedicated their lives to sharing the gospel of Christ with their family and anyone who would listen. We have no doubt they heard His word and His promise. "Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your Master's happiness." Matthew 25:21. We celebrate their triumphant entrance into heaven and find comfort that they are now with Jesus. Friends may gather with the family at 2pm Friday, April 22, 2022 for a celebration of life service for both Esther and Chuck Sundell at Woodbury Lutheran Church, 7380 Afton Road, Woodbury MN 55125. Visitation will be held 1 hour before the memorial service. Pastor Tim Marshall will officiate. Dessert and fellowship will follow the memorial service. Arrangements were entrusted to Burkholder Chapel of Thorne-George Family Funeral Homes, 419 N. Chestnut St., Seymour, IN 47274. Esther and Chuck Sundell will be laid to rest together at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
