Georgia "Marilyn" (Barnes) Barrow, 82, passed away on June 11, 2025 at the IU Health Bloomington Hospital with her family by her side. Born in Spencer, Indiana on January 12, 1943, she was the daughter of Lester and Norma Barnes.
Marilyn met the love of her life, John Barrow, at the Bloomington Fun Frolic on June 29, 1963, and they were married a few weeks later on July 18. 1963. John and Marilyn's love affair lasted almost 58 years before John passed away on March 10, 2021. Their marriage resulted in three sons, one stepdaughter, eleven grandchildren, and four great grandchildren.
Marilyn was of the Apostolic faith and loved the Lord greatly. She was a stay-at-home mom while her boys were in school, and was a den mother and involved in Cub Scouts and the PTA. When her youngest son graduated, she became a bus driver for Monroe County Community School corporation. She drove a bus for ten years until her retirement in 2005. In her retirement, her favorite thing to do was vacation in Gatlinburg. Marilyn had a great sense of humor and everyone that met her, loved her. She had a deep love for her family, Coca Cola, and above all, Jesus.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents, Lester and Norma Barnes; her husband, John Barrow; one brother, Bobby Lloyd Barnes; and one granddaughter, Whitney Barrow.
She leaves behind her three sons, Randy (Tina), Trace, Rob (Tabitha); stepdaughter, Lisa Pemberton (David); nine grandchildren, Bobbi (Brett), Keith, Brenton (Korryn), Bethany, John Luke, Blake, Alivia, Kaleb, Sela, and Wyatt; and four great grandchildren, Emily, Brantley, Benjamin, and Adalynn; and two sisters, Peggy (Mike) Shields; JoAnn Cantrell.
